Our Story

With over 30 years experience with Fisheries and Oceans Canada in Habitat Restoration, River Dynamics, Civil Engineering, and Intake Design, our work is deeply rooted in understanding and respecting natural systems. Our team specializes in identifying and developing meaningful restoration opportunities, from dynamic river corridors to wetland construction and sustainable beaver management solutions.

We have had the privilege of partnering with First Nations communities throughout British Columbia, many within the Fraser Valley and the Greater Vancouver Regional District. These collaborations have shaped our approach, blending technical expertise with cultural knowledge and a shared commitment to land and water stewardship.

By integrating ecological restoration with sustainable engineering practices, we aim to support healthy, resilient ecosystems that benefit both people and the natural world.

Projects

  • Red Slough. This Katzie led project, assisted by DFO and Lower Fraser Fisheries Alliance was funded by WWF Canada, Age of Union and the BC Parks Foundation. By reconnecting the main stem river to Red Slough we revitilized 400,000 sqm of habitat.

  • Red Sough Channel. A man-made channel connects the intake site to an existing channel that crosses the Pitt River FSR via a bridge crossing.

  • The Ashlu River Intake has revitalized Grizzly Bear habitat on the Ashlu River fan. The wetted habitat supports all species of salmonids which consists of 18,500 sqm of spawning and 138,000 sqm of rearing habitat.

  • Natural Floodplain Restoration, Rewatering dry floodplain channels has proved to be the most cost-effective solution for habitat restoration. This channel required one day of machine work and caused minimal environmental disturbance.

  • This refurbished channel on the Chilliwack River has created 4,500 square metres of valuable side-channel habitat and is already supported by a thriving riparian zone. Our expertise lies in identifying restoration projects that quickly return ecological function to degraded systems.

  • Managing wetland habitats is always interesting when Beavers are involved. With 30 years of experience we have seen it all. The steel "Beaver Box" shown has evolved to deter many beaver related behaviours. We have solutions to help manage drainage.

  • Oranssi project: slat roof

    The Boise Creek intake is a groundbreaking river intake design that utilizes innovative engineering to eliminate gravel recruitment from the river system, improving efficiency and performance by managing sediment dynamics.

  • The Boise Channel on Katzie First Nations territory produced 5000 sqm of new spawning habitat and a secure water source to approximately 10,000 sqm of endangered Sockeye spawning habitat on the Pitt River.

  • Tom Berry provides sanctuary to migrating fry during freshet. However, the lake would dry up in summer killing thousands of fry. We installed an intake on the Silverhope River which supports 700 sqm of spawning and 180,000 sqm of rearing habitat.

  • The Corbold Creek complex has been developed as a cornerstone of environmental restoration efforts focused on enhancing endangered salmonid populations on the Pitt River. The intake system has evolved to provide a reliable and sustainable water source, contributing to the revitalization of vital aquatic habitats.

  • Oranssi project: studio shed

    Corbold Creek, twin "Wing Style" intake provides 80 CFS to the Alvin Patterson Channel, the Ste'qi Channel and the Ko:lexn Wetland. This critical piece of infrastructure has withstood many large floods and continues to deliver. Approximately 224,400 sqm

  • The Corbold Creek Intake gives Katzie First Nation complete control of the downstream habitat. They now have the ability to enhance and protect their endangered Sockeye family.
